HUMAN ANATOMY D
HBS3HAD
2018
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
In this subject advanced functional and applied human anatomy will be learned and based on principles and content introduced in HBS2HAA, HBS2HAB and HBS3HAC. A research enquiry involving cadaveric dissection will constitute fifty percent of this subject. Emphasis will be placed on the application of anatomical principles, to correlate structure with function, in developing an understanding of the basis of everyday activities and related clinical scenarios.< p>

Graduate capabilities & intended learning outcomes
01. Competently identify anatomical structures presented in situ, or as images, and clearly define location and function in the body using available resources.
- Activities:
- Students will attend practicals and work independently or in groups to identify relevant structures. Resources include anatomical models, plastinated sections, skeletons, medical images and cadaveric specimens. Assessment will be via practical tests and ongoing assessment during dissection task.
02. Independently source and assimilate credible knowledge of anatomical principles relating to the human body.
- Activities:
- Students will attend lectures and practicals then independently study texts and subject manual objectives. Assessment will be via the end of semester examination.
03. Independently perform research and combine findings, in a team, to collaboratively write a review describing dissection procedures plus topography of key anatomical structures to be exposed.
- Activities:
- Students will work in a small group and research the anatomy of a selected region of the human body and submit a written dissection proposal for assessment.
04. Independently and collaboratively, in a team, to perform an anatomical dissection.
- Activities:
- Students will work in a small group to perform a dissection of a region of the human body
05. Independently and collaboratively, in a team, to develop a well integrated, evidence-based anatomical practical report in the form of a presentation.
- Activities:
- Students will work in a small group and research the anatomy of a selected region of the human body and present the dissection for assessment as an oral presentation.
