Subject outline
In this subject students will be exposed to current screen industry practices by analysing, critiquing and being involved in the process of producing performance work for the screen. Students will be required to produce a "self-tape audition" as an outcome of the subject. This latest industry practice requires, in many cases, actors to produce their own screen audition. Across the semester, students will, in masterclass workshop sessions, learn about and practice the skills of: performing monologues and scenes; shaping those performances for a range of camera/screen contexts (often via "low-fi", available technologies); show-reels, screen tests and self-tape auditions; the uploading of screen performance to online platforms; self-reflexivity and critique of one's own practice.
