Subject outline

The industry project enables students to experience real-life involvement in the planning and development of a medium sized project relevant to their degree that addresses a real-life or community problem. The project utilises a teamwork approach to problem-solving in software engineering or cybersecurity. Students integrate previously learned skills and knowledge relating to technical, social and ethical issues. The subject covers project management, team organisation and communication, project estimation and planning, risk management, documentation and reporting and milestone presentation.

Special conditions This subject represents the first semester of a year-long program. Students MUST complete both CSE3PRA and CSE3PRB in two consecutive semesters. All students must complete a 'Team Formation' form and submit this to the subject co-ordinator a week before the semester. Deadline for enrolment in this subject is seven days prior to commencement of term. Students who are completing a Software Engineering project need to have completed the prerequisite subject CSE2DES or CSE2ISD. Students who are completing a Cybersecurity project need to have completed the prerequisite subject CSE2SIA.

Activities:
Provide the process and approach for managing and developing business requirements and explain examples of requirements in software or cybersecurity systems. Student participation in technical workshops to learn and practice necessary skills. Highlight the importance of developing and managing a good and consistent concept solution and design.

03. Present proposed project solutions in software or cybersecurity systems and their associated project and risk management plans to technical and non-technical audiences.

Activities:
Highlight the standards, expectations, guidelines for project risk management process, and content for software or cybersecurity presentations of project plans and business and security requirements. Present seminars and workshops to practice the content and process of a good presentation.

Activities:
