Subject outline

This subject provides you with an opportunity to further advance your skills in audiological assessment and re/habilitation. Through community clinical placements, you will gain experience in complex case management in both adult and paediatric populations. Though you will beworking under the supervision of qualified audiologists, you will begin to assume responsibility for all aspects of audiological health care, thereby enhancing your independence and job readiness. Your learning inthis subject will be assessed by an assignment, clinical examination andby assessment of clinical performance during placements.

01. Implement and categorize advanced theoretical knowledgeand practical competency in audiological assessment and management of adults and children

Activities:
Off campus clinical placement: - At elbow supervision by qualified clinical audiologist at an external clinic with variety of adult and paediatric cases - Student-driven clinic goals will be established prior to each clinic - Students will be responsible for writing a clinical report for one case per clinical day for a total of 4 reports - Case reports will be prepared for each clinical day. Students will select one case for extended report and presentation - Motivational tools assignemtn: In small groups, students will apply one of the Ida institute motivational tools, accessed online, to cases selected from clinical placement and present it to the class. The group will then lead a forum discussion on the scenario for assessment - Assessment of practical competencies will occur by

Activities:
Off campus clinical placement: - Supervisors will implement a formative assessment tool which will detail the goals and expectation levels for the semester, in compliance with the Core Knowledge and Competencies (CKC) of Master of Clinical Audiology Graduates, Audiology Australia. - Supervisors will be asked to provide structured feedback on all aspects of performance at the end of each clinical placement, including time management, interpersonal skills and organisational skills
