Subject outline
This subject will cover a variety of topics on natural and human induced landscape dynamics. Discussion will highlight methods for interpreting past and present landscapes. We will consider the reciprocal relationship and interaction of human societies and biogeographical landscapes. We will also factor in the influences of environmental change in these interactions. Because very few landscapes have escaped the effects of human activities, the role humans have played in landscape modification and the distributions of plants and animals, and the implications for their dynamic changes will be focal points for this subject.

03. Evaluate different methods for investigating landscape modification in a variety of settings, plus more focused application of paleoenvironmental analysis to landscape modification in a temporal and spatial setting to be agreed upon with student.
