Subject outline

The focus of this unit is social policy relating to older persons in the social development context. Subject material includes a review of the demographic profiles of selected countries with significantly ageing populations, and the policy frameworks developed to meet this phenomenon. Policies are compared and contrasted based on different cultures to identify core issues of need. These are then discussed against international benchmarks on ageing policies.
