Subject outline
This subject is a clinical practicum in which students are in supervised clinical practice 4 days per week for 5 weeks plus prescribed independent learning (total subject hours 160). Prior to commencing this subject, students must complete a compulsory five day pre-clinical program comprising of a one day seminar at their enrolled La Trobe University campus, followed by four days of orientation and learning within their clinical school. Clinical practicums are supervised by registered physiotherapists and may be organised outside normal teaching weeks. Students will develop specific competencies in the assessment of clients'/patients' problems and needs, the analysis of assessment findings, the formulation of short and long term goals and the development, implementation and evaluation of intervention plans. Students at this level will apply specialised knowledge, cognitive and technical skills to demonstrate autonomy, expert judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a learner.
