Subject outline

This subject is a practical placement for Postgraduate Counselling Psychology students and continues from Internship C (PSY6DIC). Each student must complete a minimum of 334 placement hours and receive at least one hour of supervision from a qualified psychologist (i.e. a registered supervisor and member of the Counselling College) for every 7.5 hours (one day) of placement activity (in accordance with APAC requirements). The principal internship activity must be face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy. Students are expected to integrate their internship experiences into other coursework and submit case studies and/or presentations to successfully fulfil the subject requirements.

Class requirements

Placement - Off Site
One 45.0 days placement - off site per study period and delivered via face-to-face.
"Total time in internships must add up to at least 1500 hours and 200 days of placement activity. Each internship must consist of a minimum of 45 days, 334 hours which includes at least 100 face-to-face client contact hours and at least 45 supervision hours (of which 50% must be individual supervision). An internship activity log and a supervision log signed weekly by the qualified psychologist supervisor are mandatory. Students are required to participate in a minimum of five placement settings to complete the Doctoral Program."
