Subject outline

In this subject, students will cover the following: bacteriology, virology, mycology and immunology pertinent to dentistry and oral health. The microbiological basis to caries and periodontal disease will also be covered. Caries and periodontal disease will be addressed over a series of lectures to give an understanding of their definitions, aetiology and processes which will underpin the treatment principles dealt with in concurrent and later subjects.
