Subject outline

This subject aims to deepen student knowledge of disciplinary issues in screen arts & research methods. Students will extend their disciplinary knowledge by leading a 3-hour seminar on a current issue in screen arts. Students will also develop their research skills, improve their citation & annotation skills, address ethical questions & research methods. Student projects for this subject will take either a creative or theoretical pathway. Theoretical project: students undertake further research to develop their topic into a significant & feasible research question & project. Creative project: students will explore creative practice as research, with the aim of understanding practical research & its articulation with conceptual issues in Screen Arts. Students will discuss exegetical writing for the practice based thesis. The subject is essential for interdisciplinary creative arts practice & is available to students across the Bachelor of Creative Arts and BA Screen Arts major. It is compulsory for all BA major in Screen Arts Honours students.

Reading and viewing of written and audio-visual texts on a contemporary issue in screen, sound and performance studies and related fields of creative practice. Critical review essay or creative project.
