Subject outline
This subject explores the main dispute resolution mechanisms available to address a broad range of international disputes. Students will review a cross-section of international institutions and their relevant rules which enable them to resolve a wide variety of disputes. The course also reviews the broad principles relating to the resolution of international disputes of a legal nature, including those between private parties, between private parties and states or between states.

- Analysis of written cases, case-study examples, research and analysis of articles and cases, assessment.
02. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the legal and procedural framework of dispute resolution mechanisms world wide.
- Activities:
- Frameworks for doctrines explained and illustrated in concept presentations, individual student reading and analysis of cases and concepts and in-class discussions to clarify, as well as assessment.
03. Evaluate claims made in a factual scenario with reference to an appropriate international dispute mechanism
- Activities:
- Argument development and evaluation modelled through presentations, individual student reading of cases and in-class discussions to clarify and evaluate applications, assessment.
04. Critically analyse key principles relating to international disputes
- Activities:
- Frameworks for doctrines explained and illustrated in concept presentations, individual student reading and analysis of cases and concepts, in-class discussions to clarify, assessment.
05. Write a legal opinion on an international dispute with reference to relevant laws/treaties/rules
- Activities:
