Subject outline
This is a gallery-based subject, underpinned by La Trobe's exclusive partnerships with nationally and internationally renowned institutions. It is designed to deepen learning across a range of arts disciplines and creative practices, such as art history, archaeology, law, textual studies, education and politics, via the experience of a unique, curated exhibition. While the subject content will vary in relation to the specific exhibition in which it is embedded, it will also address the following broad questions: what type of exhibition is this; what holds this collection of cultural objects together; how does the exhibition direct inquiry and engagement; what types of knowledge does it produce; by what criteria can an exhibition be evaluated, and how successful is this exhibition as a whole? Attendance is required at the particular location in which the partner Gallery is located, for the 5-6 day face-to-face component. This location may vary from instance to instance, so students should consult with the subject coordinator or follow this link to check the website for further details: http://www.latrobe.edu.au/humanities/study/accredited-subjects
