Subject outline

In this subject students cross the metaphorical bridge between pre-service teaching and beginning teaching. The subject requires a 45-day professional attachment to a school community. Students experience the full range of the work required of teachers at the beginning of their careers. They reflect on, and identify, their on-going professional learning needs which are to be addressed in order that they are able to meet the standards expected in the work and conduct of registered teachers in Australia, as these standards are defined in the national professional standards for teachers (AITSL, 2011).
