Subject outline

In this subject pre-service teachers develop knowledge and skills for teaching senior secondary outdoor education, particularly in relation to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Framework. Pre-service teachers learn to develop sequences of work and assessment tasks appropriate for the VCE Outdoor Environmental Studies subject. Alternative pathways such as the VET Outdoor Recreation framework are also addressed. Strategic advice relating to teaching this discipline is based on learning theories, safety and legal responsibilities, application of learning technologies, audio-visual materials, and resources. Pre-service teachers learn to critically analyse teaching and learning processes in relation to their own experiences on professional placement.
