Subject outline
In this unit, students undertake further study of foundations, retaining walls and slope stability. Topics studied include moisture movement in soil with application to drainage and seepage problems; design of earth and rock fill dams; rock mechanics; analysis of rock structures; stability of cuttings and slopes; rock anchors; tunnelling; and machinery foundations, blasting and transmitted vibration.
