Subject outline

In this unit students will learn how to prepare solutions and buffers used routinely in biotechnology laboratories. They will be introduced to OH&S requirements of working in a laboratory in addition to the regulations controlling the use of biological material. Students will learn how to prepare, store, dispose of and transport biological samples. They will learn how to set up and organize a functional laboratory that complies with local regulations. They will also learn how to identify and acquire the necessary resources required for the establishment of a research laboratory.
