RELATIONSHIP BASED PRACTICE WITH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
Credit points: 15
In this subject students will be equipped to create relationships with vulnerable children and families in ways that are respectful and empowering; taking into account the need for forensic astuteness in promoting the safety, stability, development and wellbeing of children. Several models will be introduced which will integrate a strengths base with strategies for talking about and understanding problems within the context of child protection and/or family services provision. These chosen models promote relationships between all participants in that context. This subject will be underpinned by the Best Interests Case Practice Model - Summary Guide, (2008) and the Aboriginal Cultural Competence Framework, (2008).
