INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

MGT3IHR

2016

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

The phenomena of internationalisation and globalisation have substantial implications for the human resource management of organisations. In addition to broad strategic concerns, issues such as understanding and appreciating differences between local environments and international staff placement are complex and have far-reaching implications. Even organisations that choose not to operate across national boundaries are affected directly by internationalisation and globalisation. This subject builds on the knowledge acquired in the 'Human Resource Management' subject and applies it in an international context. Both theoretical and applied approaches are used. It is hoped that students will thereby gain an understanding of the strategies and policies available to organisations in this increasingly important area.
