Subject outline

This subject provides a theoretical and practical introduction to the elements of effective communication within the modern business environment. Lecture topics include: models of the communication process, the principles of effective communication (written and spoken, formal and informal). the relationship between the structure of and communication within organisations, intercultural communication, e-communication, and conflict management and negotiation. Students will develop applied communication skills (such as oral presentations and report-writing) in tutorials that complement regular lectures.
