Subject outline

In The Professional Educator students develop their knowledge of the professional practice of teachers and future directions of schooling. Students expand their understanding of the roles and responsibilities of teachers in contemporary Australian schools and communities. Knowledge and skills explored include: professional ethics, standards and responsibilities of teachers, legal and organisational requirements, continuing professional development, community engagement and future directions in education. Students produce a professional digital teaching portfolio and a case study investigation of a professional issue.
