Subject outline
In this subject, which incorporates fifteen (15) days of professional placement (practicum), students will be introduced to the fundamental elements of educational philosophy and theory and its influence on conceptions of education, teaching standards, theories of learning, curriculum statements, professional practice, schooling systems, policies and so on in Victoria and/or Australia. Students will be introduced to key educational thinkers and at the same time engage with a diverse array of literature from the field in order to make sense of their practice. Likewise, as part of this subject, students will write a personal reflective statement about their own philosophy of education that informs their teaching practice.

Prerequisites: EDU1PAL. Only available to students enrolled in one of the following degrees: EBTP - Bachelor of Teaching (Primary), EBTS - Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary), EBTOCE - Bachelor of Teaching (Outreach and Community Education), EBOCE - Bachelor of Outreach and Community Education.
