Subject outline

In this subject you will be introduced to leadership models, forms and competencies to develop and apply an understanding of the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to become a responsible and effective leader in an organisation. Working individually and with other students, you will analyse leaders in contemporary practice, within the context of dynamic, challenging and often ambiguous organisational circumstances. In addition you will reflect on and analyse your own leadership practice as a responsible leader, assessing your strengths and areas in which you can be even more effective.

Activities:
Online content and discussion will provide an opportunity for you to recognise key elements of responsible leadership, as distinguished from other forms of leadership or management practice. Every assignment will build on your knowledge of what responsible leadership looks like in action, from analysing contemporary leaders in the public realm, to those you know and your own leadership.

The group and individual assignments will challenge you to analyse the effectiveness of contemporary leaders in the public realm and leaders you know against responsible leadership models.
