Subject outline

The Environmental Management Work Placement subject is a capstone experience where students have the opportunity to realise and demonstrate understanding and skills of the discipline in a professional workplace setting. Students will be assigned to a workplace within the environmental industry. They will perform normal duties as part of a workplace team within that industry. In addition, students will complete a project related to the workplace. It is envisaged that through their work placement and in the completion of a project students will be able to reflect on what they have learned during their studies for the degree and also demonstrate a professional accumen.

02. In collaboration with other colleagues and with some guidance from the university and workplace supervisors, investigate an authentic environmental management issue and apply skills and knowledge in a professional work environment.

Activities:
Research and investigate an authentic problem associated with the unique contribution of the workplace organisation to environmental management.

03. Research and critically evaluate relevant information pertaining to an investigation of an environmental management issue.

Activities:
Independently and with direction research and evaluate information that pertains to an authentic environmental management problem. Write a project preview and make an oral presentation associated with their work experience and the investigation.

04. Examine the structure of a workplace organisation and critically evaluate the responsibility of the organisation in the broader environmental management framework.

Activities:
Maintain a logbook of their work experience, write a project appraisal of their work experience and investigation and make an oral presentation at the conclusion of their workplacement.
