Subject outline
This, the penultimate Unit, prepares the student for the final step. The student's in depth knowledge regarding industry standards and expectations and the practicing photojournalist is extended. Exclusive interviews with Andrew Quilty, Tamara Voninsky and David Callow offer the student valuable insights into contemporary and diverse ways of working within the industry. One of the assignments introduces students to the use of both video, sound and still capture and subsequent editing/mixing techniques. Research and visual exploration of Assignment 3 to begin in Week 5. Access to Adobe Lightroom OR Photoshop is mandatory. DSLR camera with RAW file quality is mandatory. Optional On Campus intensive offered. Information delivered IS THE SAME as that offered in the online delivery. Minimum 10 students to attend.

02. ETHICAL AND CULTURAL AWARENESS: Show an awareness of social, cultural and ethical issues at all times. To act appropriately at all times, and at all stages of visual documentation - from prior research through to post production.

- Develop a broad knowledge base to the specific Visual Art disciplines. Across the 6 Units specific lectures are devoted to this subject
03. INQUIRY/RESEARCH: Conduct qualitative research into situations, events to be visually documented. Research should provide multi layered and complex information about potential documentary subject.

- Assignments that must be researched prior to visual documentation occurring. At least two assignments of this type each semester
04. VISUAL COMMUNICATION: Exhibit professional outcomes in contemporary photographic and photojournalistic practice

- Continually evaluate student outcomes against industry and professional examples. Assignment outcomes demonstrate development of technical and conceptual abilities tthat visually articulate and communicate to the viewer in a multi layered and complexway
