Subject outline
Illustration aims to develop a way of seeing, and interpretation of visual stimuli through the creation of stylized drawings suitable for graphic reproduction. This unit of study aims to equip the student with an understanding, through practical application, of the variety of approaches and techniques that can be taken when considering illustration for communication. It is important that design, shape, colour and texture be considered in the same way that line is used when creating illustration. This series of assigned projects attempts to develop an appreciation of these other elements in conjunction with basic drawing. This unit expects a high degree of technical proficiency, a high standard of construction, quality of imagery and a professional attitude to output and presentation.
