Subject outline
In this subject students will be provided with foundational knowledge in contemporary theory and research to inform approaches to child and family practice. This subject draws upon selected theories within an ecological model, placing the child within the context of the family, the network and community and utilising a strengths-based and anti-oppressive model of practice which incorporates children's rights. With a focus on child development, stability and wellbeing, this subject is framed within the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 with guidance provided by the Best Interests Case Practice Model, 2008. Core theories include ecological, attachment, physiology of trauma and offender theories.
