Subject outline

This subject addresses the more advanced psychotherapy skills and concepts required for working with complex client populations, including addressing ruptures in the therapeutic alliance, defenses, and transference relations or rolling with resistance. The therapy processes are linked to the key areas of human distress - grief and loss, role disputes, role transitions, and difficulties in social connection. The subject will continue to be informed by an MI foundation and an interpersonal process approach, while introducing the theory and practice of Core Conflictual Relational Theme (CCRT) therapy.
