01. Locate, analyse, synthesise and critically evaluate ideas or arguments central to a philosophical problem in the field of knowledge/inquiry.

Activities:
Make a plan of your research essay, setting out the problem and issues you have identified, a statement of how you propose to develop your argument to solve the problem, including how you propose to incorporate the views of others or deal with counter arguments. Develop a statement of your proposed chapters.

02. Present a philosophical problem, identify the field of knowledge/inquiry to which it belongs, develop and justify the steps you will follow in arguing the case for your own solution to the problem.

Activities:
Conduct a literature search, prepare a review for presentation to your supervisor and subsequent presentation to your peers and incorporation into your research essay.

03. Write a sustained defence of a philosophical claim based on your critical assessment of an issue at the frontiers of philosophical research and debate in the field of knowledge/inquiry under examination.

Activities:
Make a list of questions suggesting possible research angles and outline what you consider to be the problem they address. Choose one set of questions that you consider to be important and set out possible approaches to further your investigation.
