Subject outline
This subject will assist students to develop a range of advanced medical and/or surgical skills relevant to their workplace. The content of this subject will include the management of patients with chest pain; those with specific respiratory needs e.g. NiPPV, chest drains, tracheostomy; diabetes and other endocrine disorders; specific stoma and wound care; liver and GIT diseases; renal diseases; psychosocial demands; management of the unstable haemodynamics in the ward patient, including fluids, electrolytes, patients with specific haematological disorders and those facing specific surgical procedures requiring advanced medical and surgical skills. Students will take different pathways of study through this subject in order to meet the clinical practice requirements of their workplace.
