Subject outline

In LAW1DR Dispute Resolution, students were introduced to some of the basic features of principled negotiation through various writings and by participating in exercises and role-plays. In LAW3NEG, this knowledge and practice is broadened to include a more systematic approach and the application of the seven elements of negotiation (as devised by the Harvard Negotiation Project). Students will devote about half of class time to specific case studies and related exercises in negotiation. The remainder will be spent on skills exercises, consideration of theoretical issues and discussion of class readings.
