Subject outline
This subject is designed to give students an insight into the type of tasks they are likely to undertake as a professional within the financial planning industry. The subject will have a strong practical focus and students will be exposed to a range of the more common strategies used in the workplace. As well as covering off on the core knowledge expectations, there will be an emphasis on developing skills in analysis and critical thinking as well as in the interpersonal skills required to appropriately deal with and satisfy the needs of a client. This subject is focused on extending and applying the knowledge and skills introduced in other related subjects such as Financial Planning, Taxation and Retirement and Estate Planning to practical problems presented via a case study methodology. Students will also cover the legislative and ethical considerations in compiling a financial plan or Statement of Advice (SOA). The subject#s primary focus is on developing a strong foundation in financial planning for students who intend to pursue a career in the financial services or financial planning industry. However, the subject will also be of value for any student wanting to gain a better understanding and appreciation of financial literacy and planning concepts.
