Subject outline
In this subject students will learn that an understanding of growth and development in humans, specifically psychosocial development and craniofacial growth, are fundamental to developing diagnostic ability and treatment planning skills in dentistry. Students will be introduced to the psychosocial, behavioural and physical development from birth until adulthood and how this influences growth and development in the orofacial region. Students will learn the common dentofacial abnormalities and classification of malocclusions, the development of normal occlusion, and the common interceptive treatments.
