Professional Communication - Popular and Public explores communication theory and policy in the multiplatform era. Topics covered will include: the role of factual media and popular culture in the construction of public knowledge; methodologies for analysing traditional and interactive audiences; legal issues for professional communicators; and online research ethics and big data. An applied research component on public communication within the subject will enable students to expand their skills within an area of their choice: audiences, ethics or legal issues.
