Subject outline

In this subject, students gain knowledge of transradial, transhumeral and partial hand prosthetic evidence that underpins clinical practice. This will include the principles, treatment processes, clinical assessment, prescription considerations and a biomechanical basis of prosthetic management for upper limb amputations. Students will apply theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the assessment, casting, fabrication, alignment and evaluation of transradial and transhumeral prostheses. Students are required to demonstrate effective communication skills with clients and colleagues to complete projects addressing the assessment, prescription and fabrication and prosthetic management of clients with upper limb amputations.
