Subject outline
In this subject students will develop advanced skills in an area of their own interest related to prosthetics and orthotics. Through independent work, students develop expertise in an area such as: specialised clinical services (eg. myoelectrics, ischial containment, stance controlled KAFOs, service in a developing country), component designe, administration (eg. case manager at TAC), sales and marketing, or plan a research project. Before undertaking the work, each student must negotiated with the subject coordinator a learning contract that defines the scope of the work, including assessment. This will involve considerable forward planning, particularly is arrangements involve other organisations, travel or the subject is taken in conjunction with a clinical placement.
