Subject outline
In this subject students will examine and develop advanced clinical and decision making skills and knowledge related to the care of people under the mentorship of a nominated advanced practice nurse or medical practitioner. The subject has been designed to: 1. develop clinical guidelines for advanced nursing practice in a specific area of nursing; 2. develop and trial evidence based pactice and clinical practice guidelines, and 3. demonstrate clinical leadership in practice development whilst working in a multidisciplinary team. The mentor will assist the student to develop and apply advanced assessment, diagnostic and pharmacological knowledge and skills to become a nurse practitioner in their speciality area.

Special conditions An offer is subject to documented support of the health care service where the clinical placement is being undertaken. A student as a nurse practitioner candidate must undertake clinical placement in their speciality area of clinical practice. Coordinator consultation is required before entry into subject.
