Subject outline

In this subject students will develop beginning expertise as a neonatal nurse. The subject will introduce students to the common neonatal conditions that are encountered in the Special Care Nursery & Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Students will develop an understanding of the complex physiological processes of these common conditions while they extend their knowledge of skills, nursing therapies and current neonatal practices. Students will develop an ability to anticipate nursing specific problems and to plan, implement and evaluate the care of neonates in an individualised developmentally supportive framework.
