Credit points: 15

Subject outline

This subject introduces students to the landscape of media making as it is being reshaped through the Internet, including blogs, websites, YouTube etc. It presents you with the range of media making practices that comprise networked culture - from the mobile and DIY 'studio' of smart devices to the professional studios - looking at the different practices associated with each. You are introduced to the basics of video and sound and begin to develop your own portfolio, which will be built on throughout your degree. You will engage in small exercises to explore what it is to be media makers in the broad environment of networked culture.
