NORMAL LABOUR & BIRTH
Credit points: 15
In this subject students will be introduced to the normal birth process. They will gain foundation knowledge and develop attitudes and skills for providing women-centred midwifery care during normal labour and birth by building on their knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and behavioural health sciences. Students will explore the role of the midwife in sharing information and providing choices and support to empower the woman and her family during the normal birth process. The learning approach used will enable them to develop reflective, evidence based practice and clinical decision making skills that they will need in providing care during normal labour and birth.
