Subject outline
In this subject the grammatical structure of English is explained and students will have the opportunity to develop skills in grammatical analysis. The grammatical and stylistic conventions associated with standard written English are discussed and the institutional and social foundations of current conventions are examined. A better understanding of these areas should allow students to write with greater clarity and confidence.
