ADVANCED JOURNALISM AND DESIGN
JRN3AJD
2014
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
Students are introduced to the practical aspects of print journalism production, from developing editorial skills to page layout and basic design considerations. Students work in teams to create a mock-up magazine, moving from the basic concept to production using industry-standard software Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Students are also given opportunities to develop and hone their writing, research, editing and sub-editing skills. Assessment will be based on each student's individual contributions to the magazine mock-up, which they will submit separately. No special design skills are required to undertake this subject.
