Subject outline

This subject is the capstone subject within the financial planning major and is designed to provide students with the appropriate body of knowledge and skills required of a professional financial planner. The subject material is focused on developing both the analytical and the interpersonal skills required to advise individuals on how best to achieve their financial needs and objectives. This subject will also work on extending and applying the knowledge and skills introduced in earlier financial planning subjects and related disciplines such as Taxation, Finance, Economics and Accounting. Issues will be discussed in the context of real-life work-based practical problems and presented via a case study methodology. Students will also cover the legislative and ethical considerations in compiling a financial plan or Statement of Advice (SOA).
