Subject outline

This unit provides students with an understanding of, and experience in, a variety of methods of communication used between individuals and organisation units in business. The unit content includes: communication models; evaluation of the integrity of information sources; reading, writing and listening skills; verbal and non-verbal behaviour; assertiveness, teamwork and conflict negotiation skills; cultural factors in communication; organising and presenting information effectively for different purposes; choosing and using different communication channels(written, spoken, electronic) and formats (e.g. reports, presentations, email); techniques for ongoing verification and improvement of communication skills.
