Subject outline
In this unit we provide tools, from recent developments in economics, for the manager to deal with the problems and opportunities from the internet. First, we review the development of the internet and survey the current institutional arrangements in which the internet operates. Then, we consider the firm's problems of pricing, managing intellectual property and the economics of networks. We also analyse public policy towards the internet and related industries. Finally, students develop their understanding and expertise through regular problem sets and doing a case study of a segment of the internet.
