Subject outline
Elements of Microbiology. The source of pollution of drinking water, measurement of water quality, bacteriological and other water-borne waste, control of pollution. A review of water and wastewater treatment plants. Design of wetlands for wastewater treatment. Collection, transport and processing of solid wastes, design and operation of sanitary landfills, hazardous waste disposal and the principles of cleaner production, toxicology and risk analysis. Types and source of agricultural pollution and associates waste management in intensive animal production industries.
