In this subject the nexus between tourism and the environment, both physical and socio-cultural, is examined from economic, ecological, historical, philosophical and socio-cultural perspectives. The relationship between environmentally responsible tourism and sustainable development, in theory and practice, is critically examined. Both Australian and international case studies are used.
