Subject outline

Students are introduced to the concepts of research and analysis and its applicability to management decisions. It looks at the research process and how it applies to academic based projects. A number of relevant areas are discussed including qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodology, questionnaire design, random and non-random sampling, issues of validity and reliability data collection methods, preparation and analysis, and research ethics. Students are given information about research reporting, particularly academic journals, and an introduction to interpreting the results. While no prior knowledge is assumed, elementary statistical analysis is also addressed.
