Subject outline

In this subject students are introduced to a particular field of social work practice, which is defined in terms of population subgroups (e.g. people with disabilities), life course tasks (e.g. parenting), social problems (e.g. child abuse), policy work, (such as income security) or types of intervention (e.g. mediation). Students will be introduced to the psycho-social and research knowledge base of the social problem area, key debates, policies, program, service delivery and skills required to undertake beginning level practice. This subject builds on and integrates the core social work knowledge, skills and values that students have studied in earlier parts of the course.
