Subject outline
The main purpose of this subject is to enable students to analyse contemporary and emerging issues of European integration against the backdrop of the history of the European project and its conceptual underpinnings. It situates the current process of European unification, with its beginnings in the post-war period, in a much broader historical and philosophical context that has its origins in the 'Enlightenment project'. This subject provides students with a thorough understanding of the past and present of European integration and, thus, a greater awareness of both the promises and challenges of Europe's future.
