Subject outline
In this subject, Doctor of Public Health students will have a shared understanding of the core areas of public health knowledge and practice, including the persistent tensions and debates in the field, the capacity for critical assessment of the historical origins, contemporary trends and developments in public health research, policy and practice. The seminars will incorporate an historical-analytical perspective to the major knowledge bases contributing to public health and adopt an interactive approach to learning. Seminal materials in the development of the field will be reviewed, along with contemporary commentaries. The subject will include site visits to illustrate theoretical materials.
